A word that means tradition

Riwaaz is the custom you keep because it means something: the sherwani your father wore, the saree folded away for the right evening, the kurta that comes out every Diwali. We started RIWAAZ because that kind of clothing deserved better than what most of us were finding online.

Why we began

Beautiful on screen, disappointing in the hand

We had all had the same experience. A piece looks wonderful in the photographs, arrives in a plastic sleeve, and turns out to be thin where it should have body, loose where it should be cut, and shorter than the size chart promised. The photographs were doing work the garment could not.

So we started at the other end. We went to the clusters where the cloth is actually woven, sat with the karigars who do the thread work, and asked a simple question of every piece we considered: would we be happy to receive this ourselves, at this price, in this box?

If the answer was no, we did not list it. That rule has cost us plenty of easy sales. It is also the only reason we are comfortable asking you to buy something you cannot touch first.

How we work

Four things we do not compromise on

Fabric first

We choose cloth by how it falls, breathes and ages, not by how it photographs. Cotton that stays cool through a long afternoon, silk with weight to it, and blends that keep their shape after a dozen washes.

The hand behind the piece

We buy directly from weaving clusters and embroidery workshops. Fair, timely payment is not a marketing line for us; it is the only way the same karigar is still there next season.

Finishing you can inspect

Seams that lie flat, linings that are cut properly, buttons that are stitched and not tacked. Every piece is checked twice before it is folded into its bag.

Straightforward service

Clear prices, honest delivery estimates, and a return window that we honour without an argument. If we get something wrong, we make it right.

What you can expect

On sizing, colour and the handmade

Our size charts carry real body measurements in inches, and each product page tells you how that particular style is meant to sit. If you are between two sizes, our size guide says which way to go for that cut rather than leaving you to guess.

Colour is the one thing no photograph fully settles. We shoot in daylight against a neutral background and avoid heavy retouching, but screens differ. A maroon that reads deep on one phone will read brighter on another.

Handwoven and hand-embroidered pieces carry small irregularities: a slub in the weave, a thread that sits a fraction differently on the left than the right. These are not defects. They are the evidence that a person made it.

Tradition, worn the way you live now

Whether it is a wedding, a festival, or an ordinary Tuesday that deserves something better than a t-shirt, we would like to be the label you reach for.
